EE has fowl pox and 1 eye is completely covered - UPDATE

My girls have fowl pox. I researched on here and discovered that there was really nothing that I could do. It is mostly on their combs.

Today when I went out to give them their daily snack, I noticed that one of my EEs eyes is completely covered and she can't open it. It wasn't like this yesterday. She does not have any discharge from her eye. Is there anything I can do? She is acting normal and it doesn't seem to bother her.

UPDATE 11-17

Eye is almost open now. I have been cleaning it with a warm paper towel and neosporin. I am hoping that it will be completely open by tomorrow.

After I doctored her today, I gave her some banana as a treat. When I turned her lose one of the other pullets~ Rosie~walked up to her and pecked her in the bad eye.

Rosie has a new name now and it starts with a B.

I brought him in the house and cleaned his eye for two days (he acted fine other than the eye being swelled from the sore). I also gave him a shot or two over the two days of LA200 - just in case the eye was infected. You could probably get by with just cleaning it and putting a topical antiseptic on the eye. I've heard that people put iodine on the spots - I didn't have iodine and would be afraid to put it on so close to his eye, anyway.

he is fine now - a little bit of eye puffiness, but it is open and the swelling is almost all gone. He really hated me cleaning it out, but it helped him a lot, I think. I just used a warm clean damp cloth to wipe it with, and tried to unpaste the gunk that collected in the crack of his eye.

If you did not want to give your chicken a shot, you could put the LA200 right into the eye (no needle, just clean it up a bit, so it'll open, and squirt some right into the eye opening.) I've done that for calves with really bad pink eye before.

thanks for posting that! We are just starting to get over that here as well. All our eyes are well now but our roo is still weak. Ill try the honey and the water tommorrow. Ive been giving him yogurt with vitamins mixed in and diced apples. Ill try some scrambled eggs also.

Thank you. I will make a trip into town tomorrow and get the neosporin and Polyvisol. So far she is eating and drinking normal, her eye is just swollen shut.

Now I have a dumb question: I have some Pen-Aqueous will that work like the La200 or is it different? I have the Pen-Aqueous left from a horse I rescued this summer.

Ours cleared up fine with just warm water and a paper towel a couple of times a day. I tried neosporin on the first one and that seemed to junk it up even more. Our vet had us give the roo sulmet and put him back on the medicated chick starter.
