EE hen not interested in any food

Noticed on Monday morning when I fed sprouted wheat (an all time fave) that my EE girl, 1 1//2 yr old didn't even seem interested. To me a chicken uninterested in food is a bad thing, so I began to watch her more carefully and though she was drinking and pooing she never went to the feeder. She has progressively gotten more inactive and her poo is a scrambled egg color that just seems to seep out sometimes. I soaked her hiney in a bucket of warm water day before yesterday as it was nice and warm out but thought it was too cold today. She still manages to get up on the roost. She stayed in the coop for three hours after everyone went to free range and it made me cry to see how slow and stoic a trip she made to hide in the bushes with the other girls. Her crop has been soft all week and I can't feel any abnormal lumps or bumps around her vent. I don't know what to do for her, she doesn't seem in pain. Her 28 sisters all seem fine. Sorry it's so long but I am alone here and worried.

I wish I could help but I don't know a cause of yellowish poo. Are you sure it's not egg yolk? If it's yolk she could have a broken egg inside her or a p0roblem with her reproductive system. If it is one of the problems mentioned she will get an infection (she probably already has one) and not be with us much longer.

I think others didn't answer your post because the news is not good.

Update on EE hen. Just to try to advise anyone else with this type of problem. Poor little Ethel hung in there until Sunday, more and more listless but up on the roost each night, eyes bright and perky looking but not eating. My husband finally came home on Sunday and we checked her several times, the last time fluid just poured out of her beak and tons of it. Neither of us was real sure how to end her life the most humanely. He shot her twice in the head with a pellet gun and still she stood there. I am pretty sure she was dead but didn't fall over but he got an ax and decapitated her anyway. An awful story and I will never let a hen suffer that long again and I will have a plan. Shared this because this was my first sick hen and maybe it will help someone not to have such a horrifying experience.
