Give us the following information. The more you tell us, the better we will be able to help you.

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
5 1/2 week old EE, normal weight slightly smaller than others?

2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Standing still, looking up with beak parted, making a crackling sound, moving neck around, closing eyes. did not struggle when picked up. Unusual for her. Crop felt small like a large marble.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Just now?

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No

5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Put in new feed and sprinkled boiled egg in brooder onto pine shavings. Did not notice behavior before feeding but wasn't watching them closely

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Normal until Now?

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Don't know

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Tried to give her boiled egg mixed with olive oil. Would not eat. Massaged crop seemed to increase distress.

9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Treat at home

10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
n/a

11) Describe the housing/bedding in use
9x3 brooder with pine shavings

Her name is bubbles because she used to hog the sand bath by lying down and not letting anyone else in. Very sweet cream and gray. Please help!

Thank you satay! What about gape worm?????

I haven't been watching them much because my breathing is getting really bad with the dust. I just can't be in there. Don't know how long she might have been doing this for sure.

I am about the furthest thing from an expert, but I believe that gapeworms are transmitted by worms/slugs/snails... Have your birds been allowed to be outside at all?

The hard marble you describe makes me question an impacted crop, but as I said, I am no expert. I wish I could be of more help, and I do hope someone comes on here with more information to offer you. Best wishes and good luck....

No, they have never been outside and are still in their cardboard brooder. I am going to go check on her now. Wish me luck. I'm nervous. Thanks to another Iowan though!

She is on the "roost" with the others. On the end. Her mouth was closed. Looking at her like that from above she is definitely smaller than the others. I just thought that people come in different sizes too and didn't worry about it. I'm not sure I'll be able to look in her mouth. can they get worms from their own poop? I'm guessing this is a stupid question...........

I think the only poo they can get worms from is the poo of an infected bird. Seems highly unlikly that only one chick who hasn't been out of it's brooder would have worms, IMHO.

They seem to eat all the time. I get up at about 6:30 usually and they are already eating. Sometimes their breast puffs way way out (much bigger than a marble, more like a hackysack?) What does an empty cr0p feel like? I mean just flat???
