EE maybe-not-pullet

He's 8 weeks, BTW. The place I buy from orders vent sexed chicks, then raises them for a bit to sell as started pullets. Just bad luck that I'd end up with a roo! They really are nice people and do guarantee their birds. I wonder if they're new to EEs to not know about that color thing.

Well, that's good to know! Thanks :)
I suppose male birds in general do tend to be flashier.
Just to confirm: when selecting an EE pullet, I should look for consistent coloring, small light comb, and lower to the ground stature.
Any other dead giveaways?
Thanks again!

OK, made the exchange today. How'd we do?

PS Thanks again to everyone who helped determine the other EE was a roo (the sellers aren't convinced, but were very nice about letting me switch).

I sure hope not! Comb is almost non existent and this bird is the same size as the other (last bird was bigger, especially in the legs). These weren't straight run chicks, so it would be very weird to get a roo twice! Thankfully, if it crows, they'll swap it out for me any time.

Might be a moot point. The new chicken is missing for lights out. No trace of anything. Everyone else is in. Either hiding or abducted by hawk :(
