I have a small flock with 4 big girls. 3 out of 4 have started laying within the past 3 weeks or so. My Dominique was the first to lay, then one of my two EE, then today just now I saw by second EE lay her first egg. The only girl left is my Black Australorp, Jane. I have always heard from others that EE's tend to start laying later than other breeds, and that they don't produce eggs as frequently. As of now the first EE is my best layer... she lays the largest eggs and hasn't missed a day yet!
What are your experiences with EE & Black Australorps?
I'm thinking about having the pot-pie talk with Jane

My EEs took awhile, but once they started they were pretty consistent, giving me about 5-6 eggs per week (per hen). Hang in there....I had some wait until almost 30 weeks...I haven't had any B.A. so I can't comment on those.

Thought I should add their age... they are almost 23 weeks. Still young I know, just impatient I guess
