I know they usually have big tails, but do Easter Egger pullets ever have pointed tail feathers? My 7 week old ee pullet has a tiny very yellow comb, never any hint of pink or orange, but I just noticed that her tail feather have a pointed end. Is she a roo?

You can't go by the tail feathers on chicks that young for I.D. They molt out the juvie feathers over time and get their adult plumage later on. On this breed, a wide comb is more an indicator than feathering, that is, if she/he has a pea comb.

Thanks! Yes, she has a pea comb and it's a single row pea comb. I'll just wait until she gets her grown-up feathers. And keep my fingers crossed!!

My EE roo didn't have rooish tail feathers till about 12 weeks. I know they're all a bit different, but I wouldn't worry that young
