EEEE!! Fuzzy bitty quail baby!!

My button quail hens do the laugh too, it's deffinatly not just a male thing i love when mine do it. My darn male hasn't started crowing yet I dunno what his problem is. I'm waiting for the male Darth Vader call (the male button quail courting call).

This is the darth vadar call (hens can do this call too but no where near as good as the males can...i've only ever had males do this call but breeders have told me hens will do this call back if thier mates do it sometimes):

I think the button quail "laughing call" sounds like they're saying "I love you". Well least i think so ha ha!

I'm going to record my hen doing it (she calls anytime I leave the bedroom) and use it as my cell phone ringtone

My hens call but don't do the "rev up" growly noise at the beginning. .. heh.. I thought you meant the button quail colour 'darth vader' until just now.

I R A Dork!

The males all do the evil doll noise at one another. When I played the YouTube video link, they all started crowing like mad

I have to laugh at them, because they're far too tiny to sound fierce.

See now, the one blue faced that I have doesn't do that. He (I think) mostly does the three syllable 'cooing' sound. Now that video made both the A&M's decide to crow, but I didn't hear the button at all. The female blue faceds don't get blue on their breasts do they?

My friend's didn't, but I have no idea if it was a double or single factor. All my hens are a rather muddy brown, though I have one single factor blue faced male.

monarc says this one is a double factor blue faced. It has had the white bib since the day it hatched. I am pretty sure it is male, as I have caught it trying to breed its (also male) A&M tankmate. I have not heard it call like that though.

nope hens don't have blue, it would make them male if they did as it's like a sex trait kind of thing. Just like how almost all calicos are females.

And don't worry my male hasn't crowed either yet the "grrrrrr PEW! PEW! PEW! PEW!" call yet either. My other male did but he died in the summer.

All my male will do is the three "i love you" or "where are you" whistle only when I take Pippin out...otherwise he's silent. My hens all do the three whistle call though daily normally. I want to hear the crow (which the breeders call Darth Vadar call---which yes is funny since theres the color darth vadar aka redbreasted).

edited to add a thought....MAYBE our males will crow when we have more "at age" males to make them feel like they have to compete? Just a thought!
