It’s literally the shortest days of the year and it has been about 10 degrees or so below normal lately(think teens to 20s for high temps) and my little white leghorn decides NOW is the time to start laying! Not that I’m complaining, it was a very nice Christmas present, but I had given up on her starting until spring. She is over 7 months old already. :celebrate:he

I have no idea why she chose now to start. The only possible reason I can think of is that they are overly spoiled.
(In fact the other day when it struggled to make it above 0°f my DH briefly put a heater in the coop. When I asked him why he was heating the coop and not the goat shed he told me that goats didn’t need to be heated because GOATS are farm animals:lau. I may have laughed in his face slightly:oops:).

I’m going to hope this is a sign that she will now be one heck of a good layer!:fl
