I am not sure that I am in the right place as this isnt a emergency, or disease by it may have created a infection that could have became serious. I was out playing with our chickens today. And I was holding one of our Aricuana hens, and checking out how she healed from a cut she had gotten from one of our roos. The wound healed fine not even a scar. But On the top of her back she had a HUGE black knott. At first I thought Maggot, it had a hole in the top of it. So I got my daughter to hold her and I went in with a piar of tweezers. Instead of a maggot she had ( and I kid you not) a five inch long balled up feather. It was in grown and of course infected and pussy just like a in grown hair. I never have ever seen anything like it . And I think it is up there in the list of gross things I had to deal with. I am glad I seen it and got it taken care of because it could have turn into a abcess and might have even made her sick. I am going to double check all of them to night to make sure there are no more with this problem.
