EEKS...Today is the DAY (HELP CALM MY NERVES) :) Update: one hatched

NicInNC ~ sounds just like us...right now my dilema is that momma is still sitting on two of her eggs and it seems like there is life in there, but no one is done the pip thing ... so I don't really want to remove momma and then have one lonely chick in the brooder...

Soooooo as of RIGHT NOW, the momma, the chick and two eggs are sitting in the brooder and my new thought is I need to teach this little peep to eat, because Momma isn't getting up from her eggs...I was going to grind some of the chicken food I have so it's more fine...and make sure the baby chick knows where the food / water is...then all I can really do is wait a day or two and see if those other eggs hatch out...I'm actually sort of thinking the first one hatched on like day 24, but I could be wrong, I didn't chart it...wonder if anyone has ever had chicks hatch WAY LATER then day 21?

Tonight we gave momma & her baby a new clean hotel room...I was watching the baby chick peck at the shavings and not the food...so wanted to eliminate some of those shavings and make it easier for the chick to find the food and water...Here are some pictures of our new little peep & their current hotel room.

Momma is still sitting (determined) on the two remaining eggs...we candled them tonight they look mostly black, except the tip...what do you think? still living, too far gone???
