I am interested in purchasing some EE's. Would like to hear a bit about these birds. TY. already have a small flock of mixed birds. should start laying mid August early September.

Like what? I enjoy them because because just about every hen is different and unique. I have 8 hens and only 2 sort of look the same. Every egg is slightly different colored. They are pretty good layers but a few are rather high strung.

Who could look at these sweet little faces and not be captivated by EEs?

Agatha, our prima dona.

Dahpne, our watch EE, guarding the front while Charlie the Red Sex Link rooster guards the back..

Glamour-puss Gladys, the charmer.

Pearl, calm. steady as a rock with a hint of stubbornness.

Mighty Mathilda, the thinker.....

Agatha the Diva and Glamour-Puss Gladys put on a fashion show for a captured audience. I love my EEs. No, mine don't sit on my lap or beg for cuddles, but they do make me smile, and that's got to be worth something!

EEs are produced by crossing an Araucana or Ameraucana, which both lay blue eggs with other breeds to produce different colored eggs. If a blue egg layer is crossed with a chocolate egg layer such as a Maran, Wellsummer, Penedesenca, or Barnevelder, they will produce offspring that lay olive green eggs, known as Olive Eggers. If a blue egg layer is crossed with a brown, tinted, or white egg layer, then they will produce offspring that lay lighter green, beige, or even pink or gold eggs.
