Hi there!!

We recently picked up what were sold as "Ameraucana Pullets" at our local Ace, but I really know they are EEs, I think the RIR (yellow one) is also an EE cross, but time will tell. These chicks are just at 4 weeks old so still a bit young, but was wondering if anyone could hazard a guess on their gender. While they were labeled as pullets, I am not naive enough to think that they are. When I picked them up I questioned the staff on the gender and I was told that they ordered girls, so who knows! But it's hard for me to pass up little fluffy chicks ! Typically I take all the guess work out of sexing chicks and get from hatcheries that sex for you or from folks who are much wiser than I. There is very little, if any, waddle development yet on any of the chicks, and what shows is still yellow. Thanks for your guesses, it's like Christmas waiting to find out what comes out :)

Fuzzy (I think will be barred, s/he has one or two white wing feathers coming in on the underside of the wing)

(one of our cattle dogs creeping in the background lol)

Rosetta

Sesame(supposed to be a RIR, but I doubt it)

All are pullets!:yiipchick

Oh I hope so!! They are coming out to be very sweet and my kids have gotten pretty attached. We named them girl names to ensure they remained pullets, lol. Everyday I remind them that they are girls and need to stay that way. I've read so much up on how to identify gender by comb, color, feet, peeps, and tossing coins I just gave up and decided to ask someone who has much more experience than I.

First 3 chicks. Any guesses on gender? Sorry for red light. About 4 weeks. Please and thanks.

None of those look like Easter Eggers. The first looks like a black sexlink pullet, the second is either a Brown Leghorn or Welsummer, the third looks dark enough to be a hatchery Rhode Island Red. All pullets.

Oh really?? lol Well that is an interesting turn of events! Considering they called them Amerucana's I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

Thank you for your info... I appreciate it very much!

Could be that they just put all the random, left-over chicks into an empty bin and didn't bother to change sign.

Truthfully they probably don't know the difference. I paid the price for Amerucana chicks but I'm not upset they are not, makes no big difference to me as long as they are girls!
