Efforts to Change FL Backyard Egg Sales Laws?

Have some questions about the inspection. Are you doing eggs only or meat as well? I’m wanting to do pasture raised broilers but was in sure of the inspection for the poultry license
I did eggs only, but inspection is the same either way, its the same license. Hot Potable water, three compartment sink, way to test for chlorine content (or your sterilizing agent of choice). Knowing which water goes in which sink.

Is anyone aware of any efforts to change Florida's Backyard Egg sales laws (Limited Poultry Permit: https://www.fdacs.gov/content/download/64357/file/Limited-Poultry-and-Egg-Operation-Requirements.PDF)

The law here requires eggs only be solid if the seller has a permit, only sells them in flats (no cartons), and they are both washed and refrigerated. It's quite draconian and should be changed to allow sales without a permit at least under a certain volume, sale in cartons in addition to flats provided the cartons do not bear marks from other egg distributers/sellers/farms and contain suitable language such as "ungraded". Unwashed, unrefrigerated egg sales should be allowed as well. I was thinking of trying to spin up a constitutional amendment change for this if the legislature won't take action. But - before I do - I ask if anyone else has gone this route before or if there are other initiatives towards that end.
I live in Florida (recently moved here). I have not yet found my St Rep since Gaetz has left. I too have an issue to discuss- about the requirement of pets to be v@xxed every year- when it would be far better to check the animal's immunity level- I do that and have found mine to be immune 5-10 years. Why jab when it is not necessary? I cant even get my dog groomed without proof of rabies & bordatella. **I would sign a petition and pass it around to friends. My daughter wants a few back yard ducks and lives in the Sanford area- has to have an inspector come to her house and also register the purchase from the state she is getting the day old ducklings. Knowing where you got the birds is important- most backyarders would gladly produce that info if needed for safety.

Which rep are you looking for?
Florida Senate Map
Your Florida House representative?

Your Florida US CongressCritter?

or do you simply mean you are Fl District 1, and thus your representative's seat is vacant because Gaetz resigned?

and out of curiosity, what statues in the Sanford city or Seminole County code requires registration of ducks and their place of purchase? I am NPIP here in Florida, and while I have to track my sales, my purchasers don't have to do a thing unless its specific to the code at their residence. I wasn't aware Sanford/Seminole had any such requirement and didn't see it in a fast skim of their Code (though they do have rather large setbacks, which might make keeping any fowl impossible on many parcels)

When we first got our pups we had them vaccinated and tagged ,as required, along with our cats. Now we have to do it every year for boosters or the vet will report us to the state for fines. If we fail to bring in every animal that is registered we have to explain that this cat passed away or went on a walkabout and hasn’t returned.

That's the same in my city. FL is ridiculous. We wanted to get our pup individual shots in case he had a reaction. No one offers this anymore. We chose no vaccines and he stays in our yard. Not putting rabies vax in him every year or fines. My cat was forced into this and he passed away just after his last rabies vaccine. We don't do the yearly vaccine thing because it's unhealthy and easy to get titers done but most places refuse to use titers.

For us here if we get 1 rabies vaccine it triggers the report to the city and then you get stuck in the "yearly rabies vaccine" loop. Avoid rabies vaccine and it doesn't report to the city.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand why you don’t want to get your dogs/cats vaccinated. I live in metro Atlanta where we are required to register all dogs and cats (and yes pay a fee), and required to vaccinate them to maintain this registration. I don’t see the problem, rabies is a horrible disease not only for your pet but any animal they bite and infect. It’s our responsibility as pet owners to vaccinate as we would with our human children.

For the record, there is a 3 year rabies vaccine as well, that’s what I chose.

The problem is when it becomes excessive and ends up causing injury and death. It is safe to check titers but many places refuse. We watched a dog die in the waiting room at the vet after a booster. There is a lot of money behind vaccines. They can be a help to society but there are limits to what the body can handle. The problem is when profit becomes more important.

Edit: We checked every vet in the area looking for single valent vaccines. No one carries those. Everything is multivalent vaccines. This is a huge assault on the immune system and can end up causing a lot of problems in some individuals. We wanted to do our pup one vaccine at a time and spread it out so if he had a reaction we knew which one it was. Multivalent vaccines and profits are more important than the reason we have vaccines to begin with. It's terrible. We keep our dog inside and he only goes out in our fenced yard.

We’re not complaining about getting the vaccine boosters, it’s more the threat from the vet that upsets us.
We have 2 dogs and 10 cats (outside cats, though only 2 of them will catch the mice in the coops) and our vet will call and tell us that we have to bring them to the office ( at 80$ per pet) by a certain day ( 12 months almost to the day) or we will get turned in and be liable for fines from the county and still have to pay the vet.
For 1 month out of the year, not counting the financial side, we spend 2-3 days a week at the vet and 1-2 days at the car wash getting pee and vomit scrubbed out of the carpet. Some of our animals don’t like car rides and always seem to spray something out of the bars of the carrier.

Wow that is a nasty vet. Oh my gosh. Our vet said he wouldn't say anything if we chose not to get the rabies vaccine. You really have a crazy situation there. Goodness.

I would look for a different vet, personally.
