Let me know how it goes. How did you know they were fertile? That idea sounds like a neat idea for my daughter's science fair project.

My Broody hen is sitting on eggs that are set to hatch on Jan 1 as well. It is my first hatch and a total experiment. I think I'm going to get Barnevelder/Orpington crosses and Wyandotte/Barnevelder crosses as I wasn't prepared to for her to go Broody yet. If I had been prepared she would be sitting on Barnevelder only eggs.
