Egg Air Cells

Yes, however ones that are fertile and well along in the development process will have large and noticeable air sacs whereas ones that aren’t fertile or haven’t developed will have small air sacs that you can’t see if you candle the egg.

So I bought eggs from Aldis and they’re obviously not fertilized but when I open them they have large air cells and have a white spot on the yolk so I was curious

I think that if they have a white 'bullseye' on the yolk then the egg was fertilized. Were you trying to incubate them and were unsuccessful? I guess if they have large air cells when you crack them open maybe they were old in which case incubation would not be successful. I don't know 'Aldis' but perhaps if this is a company who sold you the eggs you could contact them and let them know your situation. Just a thought!

No wasn’t incubating them at all. Aldis is a grocery store. I was making breakfast and the thought crossed my mind. And I had just picked up the eggs so I doubt they where super old.

By the time you get eggs on the shelf at the store they are about 2 months old give or take a few days. That will be enough time to settle/lose moisture and cause a bigger air cell.
