Hi. This showed up in one of my eggs this morning. I don’t have a rooster. Has anyone else had this before? This is just one egg. All my hens are acting normally. I do have 4 hens that are 18 weeks old but zero signs of any of them being a rooster.

Welcome To BYC

Do you have any other photos of it? Or if you still have it, can you separate out the pieces?

Looks like it may be a piece of Follicle but really hard to tell.

To me it still looks like a piece of Follicle along with membrane that was sloughed off. It's a good thing that the material was expelled. Gross looking I know. Hopefully this will make a bit of sense from your reading the links below and watching the video.

I assume that your girls have just come into lay at 18weeks, I'd chalk this up as a glitch or working out the kinks.
Hopefully the issue will resolve as she becomes more consistent with laying.

Provide your ladies with a nutritionally balanced feed and oyster shells free choice.

See video in post #4, it's well worth watching (I've watched the video a lot!)
