Egg bound advice

I have a young barred rock hen that recently started laying. About 10 days ago, I noticed that she was quieter than normal and not eating as much, and she continued to get worse until she was not eating at all. I took her to the vet Thursday evening and she was diagnosed as being egg bound- x-rays revealed a large egg inside of her and displaced intestines. The vet gave her fluids and sent me home with instructions to tube feed her, and also metacam and a few other meds. The vet recommended that if she was not better within 24-36 hours to bring her in for hospitalization or to consider euthanasia.

Its been 2 days now and she is the same. she will pick at food a tiny bit but eats hardly anything on her own, and doesnt move much. She is alert and bright eyed, though. I am not sure when to call it quits. Bringing her back to the vet for further treatment is not an option. I'm embarrassed to say that I spent almost $400 at the vet clinic and certainly cant spend any more. (Its a shame that veterinary care has to be so expensive.) The vet did say that this is also likely to be a recurring problem even if she did manage to pass this egg. I hate to see her suffer but if there is a chance that she could recover, I hate to euthanize her too soon.

Does anyone have any advice or has experienced a similar situation?

the treatment for an egg bound hen is to give them warm baths for 30 minutes this will help to relax her pelvic muscles also lub her vent with personal lub, nothing "fancy" even olive oil. repaet baths until egg passes. when she is dry you can place her on a warm heating pad too, keep her away from the others until she lays. good luck

Thanks. I have been giving her warm water baths for a few days but it doesnt seem to help.
