Buffy the Buff Plymouth Rock was squawking, which is unlike her. She was egg bound once before, and I got it out. I thought I’d check again.

It feels like an egg is right at the back door (vent), by feeling under her, not in her. Now that she’s in where it’s warmer, I’m wondering if I should just let her try to lay it or use my finger to pull it out.

It was cold all day, 18° F when they went out this morning and 30° by the time they came back in just now.

What do you think?

Can you give her a human calcium citrate tablet with vitamin d3 300-600 mg orally to see if it helps her to lay? Tums can be substituted. Has she been laying regularly? How old is she? Have you seen any lash eggs or thin shelled or shell-less eggs recently? Is her tail position up or down? What do her poops look like, or is she able to poop?

I don’t have any calcium tablets. She has been laying regularly. She is eight months old. All her eggs have been normal.

OK, never mind.

I just went out to look at her while I was writing this reply. She laid her egg. 🙂
