Chirping
My flock has been happy and stable for the last 2 years with no major issues. I was gone for the weekend and got home last night (hubby kept everyone fed and watered). Came up earlier and one of my Rhode Island red’s (over age 2), seems to be egg bound. Penguin walk, straining and I can feel an egg in her abdomen.
Her abdomen is also really swollen / seems bloated and it seems like it’s filled with water/liquid. I can feel the egg through the outside and it’s as if it’s surrounded by water.
So far l’ve soaked her in warm water for 20 min, dried her off and put her in the favorite nesting box but nothing. It’s been about 2 hours since I’ve found her and she keeps leaving the nesting box And comes back to the run. Tried giving her a crushed up tums but she won’t touch it. I tried feeling inside the vent with ky and can’t feel the egg in that ‘area’.
She is super lethargic and just keeps laying down. She is currently on my lap wrapped in a towel and I’m not sure what to do next.
Hubby didn’t notice anything wrong but don’t think he paid really close attention so now I’m worried I was too late.
Any advice? TYVM!
