I have a 1 year old silkie. She wasn't herself Friday and I noticed an egg up in her abdomen and brought her in. After a warm soak she passed a yolk but I could still feel a hard mass up high. I gloved, lubed, and it feels like a large egg very high up, I can feel tissue over it so am unable to pull it out. Over the weekend I have kept her warm, given multiple soaks, kept her vent lubricated, and gave 2 doses of calcium gluconate. No movement on the egg/mass. She is still pooping so i am confused there. Of course this is my favorite girl, is there anything else to be done.

Sorry to hear this about your hen! Has she been eating and drinking?

You are doing good with giving her baths and calcium!
She won't eat but I can get her to drink. I am doing a bit of yolk dripped on her beak. Its been 3 and a half days. Is there any chance for her?

I hope she can make let it out! My hen that passed some months ago had an egg very high up and it was big and hard! She died soon after I realized she was egg bound.

I'm sorry I can't help much! Maybe massaging towards the vent will help it come forward. :hugs

Hi, how is she doing?

If she's still having issues, I'd get some Calcium Citrate +D, 300 mg, and try that for a few days.

She's slightly better. I had decided to cull her then that night she started parking up a bit, walking around and interested in her food, etc. The egg feels like it has moved a bit, but I'm still not sure she will make it. I will give her some more calcium. She's my best little fluffy butt so I hope by some miracle she recovers.

Keep giving her warm bath/epsom salt bath and calcium. I did bath twice a day and crushed Tums, lube her vent with KY jelly (vet recommended). Feed her some soft scrambled eggs if she eats. Keep her hydrated and in a warm quiet place. Keeping my fingers crossed she’ll pass the egg and be fine!!!!
