So long story short. My hen has been unwell for the past two days. She hasn’t been eating or drinking much and hasn’t really wanted to move around much. I have her in a dog crate in the house. Does anyone know what could be wrong or what I should do? Here’s some pics. She just started laying eggs. She is about 18 weeks and is I think a cinnamon queen. I don’t think it is sour crop but she did have a balloon like crop yesterday that has gone down today.I am new to chicken keeping this year so any help would be so appreciated

Sorry this happening to your hen! A few follow-up questions:
1. What is she eating? You can try and feed her a scrambled egg, wet mash of her feed or baby bird food, or some canned tuna to get her to eat.
2. Does she have access to free choice oyster shell and grit?
3. Is her crop empty first thing in the morning before she has anything else to eat or drink?
4. If she’s pooping still, she most likely isn’t egg bound...has she laid an egg since she’s been in the dog crate? I see she’s laid a soft shell egg. New layers may have some issues with their reproductive system working, you can try and give her some crushed Tums or liquid calcium for added calcium to boost her system (I hide small Tums pieces in blueberries to help with giving it to my hens, syringe dose liquid calcium). You can also gently insert a gloved, lubricated finger VERY gently into her vent to feel for an egg. Warm epsom salt baths where her vent is fully submerged for 20min or so will help her relax too. You can also add lube to her vent to help ease out the egg.
5. If she’s not drinking, you can try and syringe her some Nutri-Drench or electrolyte water (Sav-A-Chik).
6. Have you checked her for mites/lice? They are very very small and like to hang around the vent, under the wings, and neck area.
Keep us posted!
