Egg bound hen - help her pass on?

:hugs Sorry to hear you hen not showing improvement :hugs

@Lady of McCamley - Instead of the styrofoam plate, would straw or shavings be ok to use?

You just need something that will help prevent the bird being on top of the dry ice due to freezing to it.

Straw might interfere with the cloud. I tried using a paper bag folded and it cut off the cloud flow, so whatever has gaps around it. You could use a piece of cardboard, just be sure there is gap for gas to rise above the ice and fill the bucket.

Sorry she isn't doing better. You are being kind to end her suffering.

No, I've never had a lash egg. How would I know the difference if she hasn't passed it?

A lash egg will have an irregular shape and texture, and it will break off into pieces if you've put a glove on, applied lubrication, and gone to feel internally. Instead of the expected hard shell and egg shape, it will be a mushy but firm textured mess, and it's basically a puss rendering of egg parts and bacteria.
