Earlier this evening I was spending a few minutes watching the chickens pecking around the yard when I noticed that something was not quite right about one of our mixed breed bantam hens. She acted a bit off in general and then would stop every few minutes and seem to "push". I suspected that she might be eggbound based on what I had read on here so I did a search to confirm my thoughts. Searching brought me to this excellent thread:

I followed the advice in the first response and 30 minutes after her warm water soak she had passed a rather large soft shelled egg. Five minutes after that she was making a fuss to be put back outside with her flock. She spent the remainder of the evening acting like nothing had ever been amiss.

Thanks BYC!

Excellent find--bookmarked!!
This is also a great reminder (for others) that there is a ton of information available in old threads here on BYC. You can do a search on BYC, or you can also use google, which may enable you to access more, older threads.

Isn't this an amazing resource? I have one of two hens alive today due to some very specific instructions and a couple of cheerleaders. I come and go but BYC is ALWAYS

here if they can they will help you. And the searches are great too, that is if you know what your problem/question is.
