I had an Araucana Hen egg bound 3 week ago, we got the egg out nothing broke and she was a little tired and sore so I kept her inside for about a week. She still isn't laying and she now wont let the rooster mount her, I figure she was still sore when I let her back out so wasn't worried but its been 3 weeks now shouldn't she be laying again and accepting the Roo?

Anytime any of my chooks go though a stressful experience the stop laying for 4 to 6 weeks, so at 3 I would just be patient and wait for her to get comfortable again.

She is hiding from him all day and when I feed them she comes out but fights with him when he tries. She was quite stressed wen it happened, she is only young about 1 and I had noticed her eggs had been getting bigger and bigger. The one that bound her was a double yoker, I'm not so concerned about her not accepting the Roo I just thought that was information that would help.

The main reason is I want to know when she goes back on the lay in case she gets bound again, I have heard it is more likely to happen again and she didn't show me the signs that l read on google. The only thing that happened is when I picked her up he back end was swollen and covered in droppings and at that point I noticed she looked very tired.

Is the covered in droppings now or then - if the back end of a hen is dirty you should always clean her up and check for egg binding as the 2 things cause each other.
