I have a hen that is egg bound. Egg is completely out of cloeca but seems to have no exit to let egg out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated she is also a first time layer

I would get something to lubricate her vent, and try to massage the egg out. If nothing else works, some have been known to make a cut in the tissue and pull the egg out. Can she pass droppings? That can be dangerous if she cannot. If you have any type of calcium as in a calcium tablet, a Tums tablet, or crushed egg shell or oyster shell, give her one because egg binding can be a result of low calcium as well as dehydration.

Give the calcium, then try putting her in a bathroom full of steam and leave her there for several hours. Do_NOT_cut any tissue!

Ill try the shower with steam but they have calcium daily. Thanks for the info.
Mine also get calcium in the form of oyster shell daily, but when they egg bound, they need an extra boost. Dose is 50mg per pound orally twice a day until egg passes.
