I have a very weird situation I need advice on. I was gone for a week and my boyfriend was taking care of my chickens. One of my hens, my only blue egg layer, didn’t lay the whole time I was gone which is not abnormal for her. I noticed she had a poopy butt when I got home so I grabbed her at night for a bootie bath. I noticed then that I could feel an egg between her legs. I just assumed an egg was forming and she would lay the next day. Well, it’s been 3 days now and still no egg. She is eating and pooping normally. She’s still active and foraging with the flock. I did check her vent and could feel an egg about 2” back so I gave her a warm bath and some calcium about 2 days ago with no luck. Should I continue trying to get her to lay the egg or just let her be since she’s acting normal? I’m worried that she could be laying internally if this egg is blocking her oviduct, but so far I haven’t seen any evidence of that.
