She has her tail down and limps when she walks as if she is in a bit of pain. She has not attempted to get onto the perch so is sleeping on the floor. She is sitting down alot. She is eating and drinking fine and is socialising with the rest of the flock. I was wondering what is wrong with her, could she be egg bound? And what can i do to help?

She is 2yrs old and ex-commercial.

I will get pics asap....

Maybe do an exam and see if you feel the egg. If you suspect binding you can give a human calcium pill or an injection of calcium glutenate. The vet will give a bound hen calcium glutenate injections to get her to lay. You might be able to find the injectable calcium at the feed store under the name theracalcium. Just make sure the ingerdients are calcium glutenate. I believe they give it to baby lambs and cattle so you might find it.if not the human calcium pill will also work. The calcium stimulates them to lay. You might give that or the injectable a try. You can also massage gently her abdomen and try a warm bath to relax her muscles.but do a vent exam and see what you can feel. See if you can feel the tip of the egg. Use gloves and KY jelly to make it more comfortable for the hen. Also the KY jelly helps lubercate the area for easier passage of the egg. Do not use an oil that can go rancid use ky jelly. I hope this helps some. If she's straining puffed up walking strangely its very likely she is bound. The calcium should really help. I hope everything works out well for you and your bird!I wish you the best of luck.

She also has a bit of a mucky bum too, but not too bad. If anybody has any ideas i would really appreciate it!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!
