Egg bound or other?

Hi
Have a beautiful rescue chicken who never laid an egg for the four months had her. Unknown age/breed. We kept as companion to our brown prolific egg layer! Two days ago laid rough light coloured slightly misshapen egg outside. Now she is standing in one spot barely moving. Read lots of articles and so far….lightly examined abdominal and felt egg shape low down so going with egg bound righty or wrongly. So gave Epsom bath this morning, rubbed oil on vent, massaged ab for 10 minutes, tried to get half a tum in her but only partially successful, will try another half tonight plus another bath and oil. She is pooping but I haven’t seen her eat or drink. Is this really egg bound or something else? In 24 hour period now. I have her in a dog kennel in house with blankets over cage keeping her quiet and warm. She appears to be standing only. Any ideas? What more should I be doing. No vets in area available until Tuesday. Thank you for any help.

Hi,

Sorry about your hen. What's her poop look like? Is it pretty runny? The reason I ask is eggbound chickens usually can't poop their regular poops and it's usually thin or runny. It's basically been three days now that she hasn't laid another egg?

If you crush your tums and mix it with some scrambled eggs, I bet she'd eat it.

Their first couple of eggs can be really strange size, shapes, weak shelled, no shell, etc.

Hi
She’s on a towel so hard to say, looks thin and white-ish. Not the big glob of poop they usually do. I will check again. No other eggs since that first egg. But it sure feels like an egg inside but really low down towards her middle. I will crush another tum and put it in a scrambled egg. Will do tomorrow too.She really didn’t get much of the tum the first time as learning how much I can get her to open her beak….but will definitely mix with a scrambled egg. Sure hoping I can get her to eat it and then another Epsom bath and another oiling. If you think of anything else much appreciated. She’s a lovely chicken and really gentle.

I'd give her the Calcium directly that way you know she's got it in her.
Give her a Whole TUMS.
Cut the TUMS in 1/2 if you need to. Pull down on her wattles to open the beak, push the piece of pill into the beak, let go of the wattles and let her swallow. Repeat until all the pill pieces are consumed.
