I have a bantam hen (at least 3 years old) who 3 days ago I noticed was lying in a different spot to sleep at night, a lower nest vs the higher one everyone normally sleep in. I thought I saw some egg yolk under her but it was dark and I was in there to rub vaseline into their legs to try to get rid of the Scaly Leg Mites. Next day she was still acting different. I noticed her abdomen, near her vent, was puffy.
I have been giving her 3-4 warm soaks a day for the last 2.5 days and no changes. NO EGG either. I have gone in and tried to feel for an obstructed egg but I can't feel a thing! She is eating but her crop is not filling up so she's not eating as much as she normally does. She pooping lil bits at a time. I did notice in one of her droppings a lil worm that looked like a tape worm, bigger than a piece of rice though. She is panting and clearly is not feeling well.
What else should I do for her??
De worm her? I rely on eggs so I would want to try something so that we can keep eating her eggs.
Or is this the way it goes with an egg bound hen? I thought I read that an egg bound hen would die within 48 hours.
And advice would be appreciated!
