Egg bound or tumor?

Hi guys, I noticed my chicken's comb looked a little purplish and she had a poopy butt. So I brought her inside to give her a little bath and some TLC. I noticed a significant sized lump in her abdomen or I should say maybe more towards her vent. She is about four years old and stopped laying this summer after she laid a soft leathery shelled egg that seemed to have broke on its way out. She's always laid extra large eggs. I put on a rubber glove and use some Vaseline and inserted my finger into her vent. I didn't exactly feel a hard shell in there. But there was something hard and large under a membrane (sorry hopefully I am describing that correctly) more on her right side. She has lost some weight, but is still eating. I have her some calcium and an Epsom salt bath in case she was egg bound. looking at the pictures, can anyone tell if she is egg bound or if it more likely a tumor?

I have had chickens both egg bound and with a tumour. With the one that was eggbound I could feel that it was definitely an egg. Sadly it didn't end well despite all my best efforts. The other one seems to be as you describe. The eggy shaped lump was a softer feel and also on the wrong side for her oviduct. It also wouldn't move forward or backward. She did eat but started to lose weight around her breast bone. The food she was eating was feeding this damn tumour. She was mostly OK and I let her be. When I knew she was starting to struggle I had to euthanise. It is a awful thing for hens to get but is common with hybrids, sexlinks and high production hens. I would advise a trip to your vet if possible. If she is eggbound she will rapidly deteriorate. If its a tumour it is alot more insidious.

Thank you, I think you are right. It appears to be more like to tumor. Thank you for sharing what you experienced with me.
