Egg Bound Quail

We just found out one of our courtnix quail hens was egg bound, we didn't catch it right away, so her innards came out. We put her out of her misery, but in case this happens again how can we help them?

I know when you have a chicken you believe is egg bound a warm water soak will sometimes help. Massaging the vent with oil can be helpful as well.

I'm sure someone will chime in with more sound advice. I'm sorry for your loss.... it is always frustrating and upsetting.
