Egg bound, sick? Help!

My favorite Orpington has gotten me worried these past few days. Yesterday she was favoring 1 day but it seemed like that healed over night? Now I've noticed she has a purple tipped comb and it's cold. It's not cold here. It is very windy at the moment. She is 2 1/2 years old. She's been eating here and there. I literally can't sleep over this. Please any ideas? Thanks in advance

If she was egg bound, then she wouldn't be able to move and staying in the egg laying position. Is she walking? If so, does it look normal? She might be a little sick but as long as she has an appetite and doesn't look in distress, then she is probably fine. Also, some chickens have purple tipped combs.

I'm not understanding this part.

Purple tipped combs usually indicates a cardiac/circulation problem, especially when coupled with other signs of illness.

When I have a bird that seems off I isolate her in a wire cage within the coop for a day or two....so I can closely monitor her intake of food and water, crop function(checking at night and in morning before providing more feed), and her poops.

Before putting her in the crate, examine her vent and belly closely(parting feathers down to the skin) to look for any swelling or other abnormality.

I like to use a fold-able wire dog crate (24"L x 18"W x 21"H) with smaller mesh(1x2) on bottom of crate under tray.

Then you can put tray underneath crate to better observe droppings without it being stepped in.

If smaller mesh is carefully installed, tray can still be used inside crate.
