Egg Bound Updated to passed 2 softshelled egg

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
brahma light, 29 weeks old, average

2) What is the behavior, exactly. acted Egg bound, squatting instead of standing or laying, very extended abodomin....Feathers very seperated around the vent.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 2 days

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. Just looked stressed,
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. new to laying

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. yes, layer pellets, oyster shell free choice, grit free choice, OACV in water, electrolytes in water,

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Normal....

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? warm bath & massage, 7 ml olive oil inserted into vent, more massage, isolation & heat.

9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Treat myself


11) Describe the housing/bedding in use. Hay & wood Shavings w/DE sprinkled in.

45 mins after warm bath & massage, Baby passed 2 softshelled eggs, is currently in a dog kennel in the kitchen, on hay.....where she will stay the night.
I gave 4 drops PolyViSol (non Iron) into Beak, OACV in water available 24/7, No food tonight, (crop was very full when I brought her in).

Whew! Glad she got them out! The same exact thing happened to one of my girls this summer, right down to the 2 soft-shelled eggs. I was advised to give mine one crushed TUMS to replenish her calcium supply. That helps the next shells to be harder so they are easier to pass.

She ate & drank fine this morning, was dry and very anixous to return to her nest, as she kept leaping in the kennel at the doorway......covering the kennel did nothing to deter this behavior. this afternoon she was returned to the coop, where she went right to the nest. seems she had no trouble today.
