~~Could use some advice or suggestions from veteran chicken friends! We have a 4 year old hen that we noticed was acting a little out of the ordinary towards late afternoon. Had been spending a lot of time under the one shelter in their run, although did come out to eat some leftover rice & broccoli I threw to them after dinner. As it was getting to be around dusk, & my husband went to lock them up, noticed that she was still sitting under the shelter, & there were 3 puddles of clear liquid close by. (At the time, we thought they were diarrhea) She let my husband pick her up & put her on the feeding station that leads to their roost, & which time she drank some water, & then went into perch. I began to wonder if she might be egg bound, & told my husband that he better go back out, pull her from the coop & inspect her more closely. Once we went back to the coop, my husband found an egg underneath her on the coop floor that was still warm, & although it was necessarily misshapen or deformed, was slightly cracked. We felt a little better thinking that being egg-bound had been the problem, & was now obviously solved. However, when my husband picked her up to still check her out more closely, she vomited the clear liquid like had been underneath the shelter. He felt around her vent & all was soft & normal feeling so we just returned her to the coop for now. Any input on what we do from here would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would do a search at the top of the page for sour crop. Check her crop especially firts thing in the morning when it should be empty to see if it is round and squishy which may indicate sour crop. If it is round and hard that would indicate an impacted crop. Her crop could just be slow to empty from another problem going on.
