Egg bound ...what to do?

I have a friend that just lost her silky to egg binding, and I have Ducks so I don’t know what to do for a chicken.
we need to know what to do if it happens again. I have had Ducks get egg bound, and had to float them until the nerve was not pinched anymore. does that work with chickens?
