egg bound

Has she started laying yet? She could be egg bound with her first egg. You could try putting her in a warm soak. It's helps them to relax and pass the egg. Next step would be to lubricate around her vent if it looks like there is an egg stuck there.

she hasnt layed yet but what more can
I do beside

the warm soak, which i did this morning.
and dried her with a hair dryer.what should i use
to lubericate her vent? thanks ..

I've never had an egg bound hen but I've read that people use K-Y jelly or you could use Vaseline. You could also try another long warm soak tonight.

Do you see or feel an egg at vent opening?

I have to check again tomorow morning
I did think I saw the shape of an egg
thought it was swollen.and vent looked very sore.
I've never had this happen before so Im stumped.
I will do another soak I dont want to lose her she' so tame and sweet.

thank you for the help.

Glad to hear all is well. Did it take her this long to lay the egg? Has she laid any others since without problem?

The next morning
I brought her into the the bathroom sink
for almost an hour in a nice warm bath little Matdila loved it and about an hour or so later she passed her gift to me.
but no more eggs since, so I am watching her..
i have put her back into the coop and our weathers
been 18 degrees

I do have
wood shavings and straw to 2'ft. on the coop floor.
she dosent roost. I always find her in the corner.
