Something is wrong with this chicken. She had an egg that was wrinkled on top a couple of days ago. Thought she took the next day off, but then saw an odd egg under the coop—sort of chalky and the color wasn’t evenly dispersed. She appeared to be walking funny and straining, so I ran in to make an epsom salts sitz bath. When I came out a few minutes later, she seemed better and I noticed another odd chalky egg on the ground nearby. Gave her the sitz bath anyway and then checked her vent for an egg. Didn’t feel any egg. Today, she’s walking around, holding up one leg and then the other. Here’s a photo of her vent today( feather’s all clumped and ugly from yesterday’s bath) and photos of the two eggs. Didn’t get one of the one with the thin, wrinked shell on top half.

Give her some calcium. I use calcium citrate 400mg, crush it and fold it into a treat like peanut butter.

Calcium given once a day for a brief stretch can often cure egg problems. You may need to give it for a week or two. Once the eggs begin coming out normally, stop the calcium.
