Our 2-year-old Americana hen appears to be egg-bound. This started yesterday morning. All the other hens are fine.

Yesterday, we gave her an Epson salts sitz-bath, gently massaged her abdomen, put Vaseline around her vent, tried to make sure she drank some water… nothing has worked.

This morning the area below her vent is inflamed and more swollen. Applied more Vaseline.

She came over to eat with the other girls but didn’t. She waddles around clearly trying to expel the egg, at least that’s what it looks like to me.

Can we save her life? What else can we do?

Hi! Has she got access to oyster shells?
I dont know a lot about chickens, but I exect it's the same sort of course of action as it is for ducks- calcium gluconate can be a brilliant emergency form of calcium to get an egg moving. Is she pooping?
Could you perhaps get a photo of her vent area?
@casportpony may have better advice

She does get Oystershell calcium, her feed is layer feed crumbles (right now, usually pellets). I'll take a photo of her vent. Thank you

I've given her calcium and inserted my finger 2 inches with Vaseline. I did not feel an egg. She's very listless.
