egg bound

I lost one of my barrbed rock hens a week ago. Devastaing I have 8 hens had. 4 rhode islands 2 americanas and then now 1barbed rock. I never knew about the egg binding.Has anyone else had this happen?

Sorry for your loss!

Maybe search under "egg bound" I'm new here, so don't know much about it. Some post that they set the hen in a warm bath and coat the vent with something slick like olive oil or vaseline.
