Okay I may be going about this completely wrong, but please let me know if you can see anything

Not sure how old the eggs are but hen has only been sitting for about 24 hours now. There are definitely some visible dark areas in the middle of the eggs.

Too early? Am I just seeing things?

I would wait until at least day 7 before candling personally too hard to see before that.
 
I don't candle for the first time until day 5-7. Vessels are visible at this time and non-fertiles can be removed. I think it is too early to call. If they look like this at day 7, they are non-fertile.

Yep, need to wait to candle. Also hold them large end up not down. The air sack is in the large end, this will help you when looking.
