Hi! This is my first time ever hatching chicks so I am super nervous. These silkie eggs were shipped to me and some had wobbly air sacks to start but now it’s day 9 and I can’t tell on these 4. 2 have thick veining which I am guessing is a blood ring but it doesn’t go all the way around and it hasn’t progressed from yesterday. 1 has a strange line running down the vertical middle of the egg. It’s not the air cell so I wasn’t sure what that was. And finally the “yellowish” picture I believe isn’t developing but there is a darker area that doesn’t move when the egg is turned.
Any advice for me? I would greatly appreciate it!

I dont hatch silkie eggs, but to me that yellowish one doesnt looke like it started--- HOWEVER don't toss it yet. I leave mine just in case and generally toss at lockdown. Good luck!!!
Are the eggs normally ok then to keep in there until lockdown? I don’t want to toss anything that could be growing… but also don’t want anything exploding on me 😅
Thanks!!

I leave any questionables in there until lockdown too. I've hatched hundreds of silkies this year and never had an egg explode. That said, the first yellow one is definitely a non-starter, and I'd have removed it. By day 9, you'd for sure have signs of life and see movement even.

So, they are on Day 12 now. You could candle again in a day or two, then once more prior to putting them into lockdown.

I can't hatch any for about a month yet, so I'm anxious, can you tell? 🥚 :jumpy LOL.

If you have wonky air cells from shipping be prepared for a low hatch rate (25-50%), mentally and emotionally get ready now but also know there isn’t anything you can do to fix it, and you did nothing to cause it, it is just part of shipping eggs, so no guilt, anxiety or fretting over what you could do different, the damage is done and your eggs will hatch or they won’t, whatever you do or don’t do won’t change that. Also blood rings are very rare, so don’t worry too much about them in general. The red color means blood vessel development which means life, infertile eggs glow yellow or green, so your red eggs look hopeful! They’ll eventually go dark as you try shining a light through an actual chick! If you smell a rotten egg, definitely dispose of it, but if they don’t stink explosions are unlikely so feel free to leave them in if questionable.

I am not an expert. I had my hens hatched out eggs 4 times in the last 2 years and they show veins, heart beat around 4 -7 days. Those are not Silkies eggs. 1 exceptional egg that did not show anything at all, but after day 10, it turned completely dark and it hatched out a chick in the end.

A few of the eggs under mother hen that did not show anything by day 10, they are not fertile eggs, I had few like that. I did not remove them from mother hens because I did not know, and as time went by those eggshells colour looked quite dull. I removed them in the end.
