Eggs are candled in commercial farms to remove cracked eggs or those with blood spots. You don't have to do it. It's a quality control thing, and most people buying backyard eggs don't expect store bought perfection.

A yolk is produced in a follicle in the ovary, which is surrounded by veins. The follicle ruptures when the yolk is ready to be released into the ovary. Usually, it ruptures in a place that does not have any veins, called the stigma. Sometimes a vein may cross into the stigma and break during rupture. This causes a blood spot to be deposited onto the yolk.
