Egg carton method: Styrafoam or paper cartons?

Paper. The styrofoam will build up condensation, which you don't want.

Happy hatching!

A little bit. Not too bad though.

For hatching, I transfer the eggs to cartons that I've trimmed the edges off and cut the centers out of so they have more room to get out of the shell.

I have tried egg cartons. I use the paper ones sometimes. I use them for the bigger breed chicks but for the banties, I lay them in the incubator. With the little breeds, I have had better luck not using them...

paper. the styrofoam starts to condense, which could harm the eggs. you can find paper ones at a feed store

I've used both. Didn't affect the hatch any differently. Of course, I did cut out almost all of the bottoms and some of the sides of both types.

BUT, here in dry AZ I found that the paper ones soak up too much of the humidity.
