This may seem silly but I have seen many people place their eggs in a carton (Small end down) when they go on lock down? Does this help the chicks hatch better?

It helps some an others it hurts. I think the dryer the eggs are at hatch time the more standing them on end may help. The wetter the eggs are the more likely it will hurt. The main reason people do it is to keep the hatched chicks from kicking the other eggs around. There is some debate over weather the kicking around actually hurts or helps.

That does make sense. During my first hatch my first chick to hatch was rowdy, I think she went to every egg in the bator and rolled it around. This may have cause most of mine to pip on the bottom side of the egg rather than the top???
