egg cartons - for incubating or just day 18 forward?

Hovabator, very precious eggs from a fellow BYC-er. Anyone here use egg cartons straight through incubation, or do you all just use them to hatch?

Looking for advice.

If you put the eggs in a turner they don't need the egg cartons.
If you are hand turning, I dont sugggest using cartons days 1-18.
I use a turner for days 1-18 and then use the egg cartons on day 18 to hatch.
