I did a quick search and while I found a few links on Raspberry Pi automation I did not find much about automated egg collection.
Problem statement.
1. Determine when a chicken has laid an egg
2. Remove egg from laying box and store for later collection
2. Notification that eggs are ready to be collected
I think this is going to be a combination of low and high-tech.
My current thinking is combining a manual collection along the lines of this You Tube (
where the egg rolls into a catchment container. I like the idea of this as it is very each to collect the eggs and determine when an egg has been laid. It also lends itself well to adding more complexity, such as determining which chicken is laying etc
So before I approach this from scratch, has anyone done something like this? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
