I have a Barred OEGB who usually lays whitish eggs, today in the midst of her clutch is a dark beige egg. It has to be hers. She is the only one in the pen with her roo....

Just curious....

?? I think she's been caught red clawed with someone else's eggs.

I witnessed my broody Black O hauling a duck egg into her nest. She's not a Maran in disguise, is she?

I have a Dellaware that lays dark brown eggs sometimes and lighter brown eggs sometimes. I have watched her lay them as I work in the coop, so I know they are hers. I have read that can't happen, but experience tells me otherwise;)

Occasionally, albeit rarely, a chicken's egg color can change slightly. This is generally an exception rather than the norm.
