This is the first 3 eggs my sapphire gem has laid. Is it normal for the eggs to have such a difference in color?
Do sapphire gems normally lay brown or cream eggs?
Ok makes sense. ThanksBrown eggs commonly vary a little from day to day, usually lighter when the hens' been laying longer and darker if it's the first egg or she took a day off. That would explain the first two.
When there's an extra-light one (like the third one), I usually find that the shell is thinner than normal--probably the hen just laid it a bit early, before it had time to get quite so much brown shell on the outside.
Usually brown, I think.
