One of my RIRs has started laying and I've noticed sometimes the tops of the eggs are whitish. They aren't soft at all, so I don't think it's a calcium issue. I know the egg color can be a little off when they start laying-- but always in the same spot? Is that normal too?

Thanks

i dont know, maybe she sits on it when its still wet. i think its fascinating that if its just laid and still wet, you can rub off the color! also - just think of it as unique!

Wow, I didn't know that about being able to rub off egg color when wet!

Thanks for the reply

I've got a RIR that just started laying a week ago and have noticed the same thing. Also, her eggs are really tiny still. I guess it will take awhile to get "prefect eggies".
