Can a RIR lay a green or bluegreen Egg? I'm a nubie and it's driving me nuts. I have 3 girls, and the 1st of the month I started getting olive colored eggs,12 so far. I have a BO, EE, &RIR. I assumed it was the EE who was laying, but every time I catch the RIR on the nest!!! HELP I want an answer. THANKS

No, not if it is in fact a RIR. The blue gene comes from Araucanas and birds descended from them. i.e. EE, Ameraucana, Crème Legbar. None of those genetics in a pure RIR

Thanks, I guess the RIR is just going to take care of all eggs once all three girls start laying.

I know you'll think "she's crazy" but my granddaughter and I watched my RIR carry on this morning go to the nest and lay an olive color egg. She must have some EE in her or something,But she is laying the olive green eggs!!!!!!
